The Outpost

 The movie, The Outpost, weighs heavy on my mind, especially with Veterans Day this week. The story of men who paid the ultimate price for some politician's dumb idea. The fact that not everyone comes home with a Hollywood story of glory. Or maybe they all  do. This is the movie for the enlisted person, not the famous Navy SEAL. The one whose names we don't recall. UGH. It stays with me. This Veterans Day felt different. I see things differently now. It's not just a movie, entertainment for an hour. This is my real life. The real life of the customer at Starbucks who yells at her kids because this deployment life feels endless. The partner of the soldier who jumps at random noises now. It took me 4 days to get through this movie, taking breaks with comedy sitcoms (Superstore at the moment) to raise my mood and serotonin.  For me, my husband (and those who serve beside him) inspire me. Reflections on Forms and Slides

Google Apps, while a challenging and time intensive course, has proven to give us the creative outlet that a lot of us crave.  I have very much enjoyed the personalization options, and also the ability to add in more personality to our assignments. I really appreciate how well all the courses are tying together (keyboarding class makes assignments more efficient, Microsoft Powerpoint has helped a lot in my understanding of Slides). While I took some creative liberty with the last assignment and more viewed it as a reflection of my honeymoon in Hawaii last year, I really enjoyed piecing together a presentation.  It very much reminded me of the prehistoric days before social media. A business version of sharing my travels, if you will.  My favorite part about the slides was the transitions, and how easy it was to add personal videos or photos (as long as I put it in a findable place on Google Drive).
