Final

Image
 Oof how strange to be writing the post for our Google Apps final.  Course Reflection I have really enjoyed learning more about the Google Apps that are already integral to my life, but also being introduced to the bigger world of Google and all their apps.  Before this class, I was aware of: Blogger Gmail Drive Calendar Docs Sheets Search Meet Forms The apps that were introduced to me from this class were: Slides Sites Drawings Keep Apps I learned from the group project: Wallet Shopping Finance Ads Moving forward, I will continue to use my favorite Google Apps (but I can now utilize more abilities than  I ever have before). I can see myself using Google Keep after this class ends and integrating it into my every day life. My career will definitely benefit from my newfound knowledge of Google Sites and Slides.  I was introduced to a whole new world of Google apps, so I am already blown away with everything we DID  cover. I have no recommendations for apps I...

The Outpost

Image
 The movie, The Outpost, weighs heavy on my mind, especially with Veterans Day this week. The story of men who paid the ultimate price for some politician's dumb idea. The fact that not everyone comes home with a Hollywood story of glory. Or maybe they all  do. This is the movie for the enlisted person, not the famous Navy SEAL. The one whose names we don't recall. UGH. It stays with me. This Veterans Day felt different. I see things differently now. It's not just a movie, entertainment for an hour. This is my real life. The real life of the customer at Starbucks who yells at her kids because this deployment life feels endless. The partner of the soldier who jumps at random noises now. It took me 4 days to get through this movie, taking breaks with comedy sitcoms (Superstore at the moment) to raise my mood and serotonin.  For me, my husband (and those who serve beside him) inspire me. Especially given the recent election, my husband would have volunteered to serve his cou...

Reflections on Forms and Slides

Image
Google Apps, while a challenging and time intensive course, has proven to give us the creative outlet that a lot of us crave.  I have very much enjoyed the personalization options, and also the ability to add in more personality to our assignments. I really appreciate how well all the courses are tying together (keyboarding class makes assignments more efficient, Microsoft Powerpoint has helped a lot in my understanding of Slides). While I took some creative liberty with the last assignment and more viewed it as a reflection of my honeymoon in Hawaii last year, I really enjoyed piecing together a presentation.  It very much reminded me of the prehistoric days before social media. A business version of sharing my travels, if you will.  My favorite part about the slides was the transitions, and how easy it was to add personal videos or photos (as long as I put it in a findable place on Google Drive). I appreciate the ability to do that quite easily.  A photo that did n...

Google Apps: Assignment 4.4

Image
The Google apps I have used since my last blog post are as follows:   Google Drive  Google Sheets  Google Meet   My favorite feature is how similar Google Sheets are to Microsoft Excel. The transition is fairly seamless and I am thrilled that I am learning Google Sheets at the same time as learning Microsoft Excel. The paired learning is very helpful (albeit somewhat confusing at times lol). I also LOVE the ability to share photos on Google Drive. This has been incredibly helpful as some of my social-media adverse family members want to see homecoming photos. I can just hand them my phone with the google drive folder pulled up and we can see these photos anywhere without it slowing down my phone at all. That is by far my favorite feature! A new feature that I learned was being able to add photos and links and even drawings to Google Sheets! It makes sense since I was able to learn that in Microsoft Excel but I never knew Google Sheets had that feature as we...

Reflections on Google Apps {so far}

One new feature I didn't know about was adding a contact off of a Google Word document. I do love the seamless transition between all of the Google apps, it reminds me of how Apple is also consistent between devices. If I can manage my notifications correctly, I can see the reminders on the calendar being very helpful to stay ontop of all my different schedules.

First Impressions of Blogging and Blogger

Image
My experience with blogging is actually exclusively through Blogger. I used to have a blog, because once upon a time I was hopeful that my ideas were worthy of the internet. And they were, I do believe that most things (that don't harm others) are worthy of the internet. I have enjoyed seeing how Blogger has evolved and how modern it seems to have become. The upgrades are nice and I love the sleek feel to it. I am excited to utilize Blogger and to continue to make writing more of a daily practice (like we did in OPT Bootcamp). My favorite part was customizing the blog with photos and seeing the size difference and pixel capacity of Blogger. When I was trying to become a "blogger" (now, refered to as an "influencer"), the largest size option for photos were that of a poloroid. I was delighted to scroll through a few photograph options before deciding on my wedding day photo. I am also excited to see what layouts my classmates choose!
